STARTALK is a program funded by the NSA to increase the number of U.S citizens learning, speaking, and teaching critical languages. STARTALK is an awarded scholarship and completely FREE to students.
The UW STARTALK program is a three-week summer camp that focuses on the Arabic language. The campers spend the first week at Table in the Wilderness in Centennial, Wyoming. During this wilderness retreat, students engage in outdoor team-building activities and learn nature-inspired vocabulary. The remaining two weeks are spent on UW campuses with the students staying in the dorms.
Any students entering 9th grade through college sophomores are eligible to apply. Preference is given to Wyoming students, but any student across the country is encouraged to apply. Application announcements will be posted later this year.
