FireWise Forest Management is a service company that provides wildfire hazard mitigation to homeowners on the wildland urban interface.

H.S.S. Mecates produces mecates, a type of horse rein, and anticipates the eventual production of a complete line of horse tack.

Third Place:

Chip ‘n Dip

The business concept for Chip ‘n Dip is to create a snack bar that allows customers to select their favorite chip and dip combination for a quick, fresh snack.

2007 $10K Finalists

After reviewing the business plans submitted for the 2007 $10K competition, the judges selected the following six teams to continue in the competition.

• Chip 'n Dip: a snack bar that allows customers to select their favorite chip and dip combination for a quick, fresh snack.
• Fire Wise Forest Management: a service company that provides wildfire hazard mitigation to homeowners on the wildland urban interface.
• H.S.S. Mecates: produce mecates, a type of horse rein, with plans for the eventual production of a complete line of horse tack.
• Platte Valley Decoy Company: marketing collapsible full-body goose decoys that appeal to hunters because of their realistic looks, low-cost, and most importantly, their easiness to use.
• Trace Detection Technologies: marketing a device for the detection of narcotics and explosives. Users will be able to make a significant impact on reducing drug trafficking and enhancing safety for citizens and agents alike.
• Verge Omnimedia: a multimedia company that specializes in the delivery of student-produced content on the World Wide Web.
