About Us

The EPSCoR/IDeA and Research Development Office (RDO) is the University of Wyoming’s central resource for grant support, research development and funding opportunities. Through targeted initiatives, the office helps faculty grow their research programs and elevate UW’s national research profile. The Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) and Institutional Development Award (IDeA) are key to advancing scientific discovery, workforce development and research capacity across the state. In partnership, Wyoming EPSCoR-IDeA and RDO strengthen grant success by providing funding searches, interdisciplinary team support, seed funding, proposal development and professional growth—expanding research opportunities throughout Wyoming.

Research With an Impact

Research by University of Wyoming faculty and students plays a vital role in shaping the future of our state, communities and economy. Wyoming EPSCoR projects are at the forefront of innovation and can focus on a wide variety of research topics. In particular, there are several projects that could provide valuable insight into our natural resources and agriculture—an industry central to the well-being of our rural communities. Through a strong commitment to scientific discovery, we are building the knowledge and tools needed to make informed and educated decisions to support and sustain the livelihoods of Wyomingites for generations to come.

Limited Submission Opportunities

Limited Submission funding opportunities occur when a grant limits the number of proposals an institution can submit. This requires an internal selection process managed by the Wyoming EPSCoR and UW Research Development Offices. Many of these opportunities are EPSCoR-specific.

Announcements are shared via campus listservs, and details are available on InfoReady Review. Internal coordination ensures UW meets sponsor requirements, and applicants must go through an internal review before advancing. Stay informed and review the process linked below to improve your chances of securing funding and advancing your research.

EPSCOR/IDEA and Research Development Office Goals

EPSCoR supports research and STEM innovation. Strategic initiatives build research capacity, foster collaboration and boost competitiveness in federal funding. UW faculty are central to these efforts, and EPSCoR is proud to support their impactful work through targeted investments and development opportunities.
