Bioengineering & Biotechnology

Faculty conducting research in these areas use both experimental and computational approaches to integrate engineering concepts to enhance biological systems, or use biological materials to engineering novel systems. Current focus areas include diagnostic assay development, rare earth extraction and separation phase behavior of proteins, coatings for biomedical devices, biofuel and chemical production, microbial metabolism impacts on the environment, and microfluidics.
