Transmitter and Receiver

This series of projects explore concepts of radio communications.  We use LEDs to generate (very high frequency) radio waves and photo-resistors to take the place of radio antennas. These ideas are identical to concepts used in cell phones and Wi-Fi.

Initially we build a transmitter and receiver to communicate between Arduinos using Morse code sent by pulses of light waves.  Next, we consider digital music, which we create by switching a voltage on and off rapidly to create desired pitch and tone.  Replacing the speaker with an LED results in pulses of light rather than sound.  These light pulses are just like Morse code pulses and can be received using the same receiver circuit as the Morse code!
