University of Wyoming students will always have a place to call home.
Whether a bright-eyed future UW student is visiting campus, a dedicated current student is interviewing with prospective employers, or a worldly wise former student is reliving old college memories, there will soon be a place on campus where they will forever be welcome—the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center, a dramatic state-of-the-art welcoming center funded entirely through private support.
The center is a partnership among the university’s Foundation, the Alumni Association, Admissions, and the Center for Advising and Career Services and will contain office and collaborative space for these units as they support and promote the university. But it's really for students.
Here's what some of the partners had to say.

The Alumni Association "The University of Wyoming Alumni Association is honored to be invited as a partner in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. Our UWAA Board is excited to capitalize on the opportunity to expand the external alumni relations activities to the center and increase the reach of the UWAA to better serve our alumni, students, and UW." – Keener Fry, executive director of the Alumni Association |
Career Services "We are thrilled to have been afforded the opportunity to move the employer-engagement activities of the Career Services Center to the Rochelle Gateway Center. The opportunity to host employer information sessions and job fairs in the building expands our capacity to bring employers to our campus. Having ten technology-equipped and professionally appointed rooms for employers to conduct hiring interviews with our students elevates the playing field for our graduates. This setting will immediately convey to employers that UW students can succeed in a corporate environment anywhere in the world. In fact, we see this center as the students' gateway to the real world and their future." – Jo Chytka, director of UW's Center for Advising and Career Services and the Johnson Business Career Center |

Admissions "The Admissions staff is privileged to be a part of the new Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. First impressions are always so important as prospective students and families go through the college search process. This new building will have the WOW factor and make a positive impact on their campus visit experience. Linking Admissions staff with the Center for Advising and Career Services, Alumni Association, and Foundation will create an important connection as we get a number of alumni who bring their children to UW to visit campus. We look forward to being a part of this exciting new UW endeavor." – Shelley Dodd, director of Admissions |
Project Guide Services "Of all of the UW projects that I've had the honor to manage, the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center might be the one that has the single most impact on Laramie, UW, and Wyoming. I believe that it will be a gem for everyone to enjoy both functionally and architecturally." – UW Foundation Owner Representative Chet Lockard of Project Guide Services |

Pappas & Pappas Architects "While Old Main will never be replaced as the 'signature campus building,' we do feel that we have truly created a landmark building that will serve as the Front Door for the University of Wyoming for decades to come. The task given us by the UW Foundation was to design a building with a WOW factor but still be sensitive to UW traditions. We believe the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center incorporates a pleasing modern vocabulary, while being consciously contextual through the use of traditional elements such as UW stone. This high performance, inspirational building will be a key element in successful recruiting and student placement efforts, and Pappas & Pappas Architects is honored to be the Architect of Record." – Stephen Pappas, principal, Pappas & Pappas Architects, P.C. |
Project Managers and Engineers "It's exciting to take part in the construction of this facility that will serve every current, prospective, and future University of Wyoming student. The design of this facility is a perfect balance of function, asthetics, and tradition that will meet each student's needs. We are proud to be building the gateway to this university." – Andy Pakiz "It brings me great satisfaction and pleasure to be part of this AWESOME project. Every time a tour is given to show people what is being done, it brings a smile to my face. It really strikes me as amazing how many people this project touches. My family and I are happy that we can stay right here in Laramie and enjoy the schools we have come to love. Young and old, new students and their families, existing students and their families, alumni, and all of the community will surely enjoy and benefit from the effects of the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center." – Preston Nelson "It is great to see UW and how much it has grown over the years from when I was just a child. What a privilege to be able to be part of this building project and know that it will welcome so many new students for many, many years. I also like the fact that it will really showcase the history of Wyoming." – Dan Leatherwood Project managers and engineers working on the Marian H.
