Stewardship

Stewardship

Built on trust and transparency, stewardship is the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care, and at the university and UW Foundation, we are stewarding your private giving to the best of our ability.

Dr. Ken Griffin

Some of UW’s most faithful supporters are its faculty and staff. Former College of Business Dean Ken Griffin has benefited UW with his philanthropy for a whopping 40 years. This is in addition to all the other ways he has served UW. For example, he established multiple funds that honor his late wife Leah, who tragically died of ALS in 2009, and one that honors historian and U.S. Air Force Colonel Gerald Adams. He has supported the Ken and Leah Griffin Scholarship for College of Business students consistently since 2003, but these are just a few of the many gifts he’s given.

Bill and Nancy Pettus

Bill and Nancy Pettus have a combined total of 55 years in education and over 30 years on the UW College of Education Advisory Board. They have been staunch financial supporters of the college for over 37 years, including the Literacy Research Center and Clinic, the Bill and Nancy Pettus Special Education Scholarship, and much more. It’s hard to measure the breadth and depth of the impact they’ve had on UW. “I believe my undergraduate program at the University of Wyoming was second to none, and I am indebted to the university for the excellent education I received,” Bill says.

Lew and Donna Bagby

Distinguished Emeritus Professor Lew Bagby is retired UW Russian faculty and director of International Programs, and Donna Bagby is a retired UW electron microscopist in Zoology and special assistant to the UW president. For 29 years, the Bagbys have supported UW with their philanthropy in the areas of UW they are most passionate about—Wyoming Public Radio, Modern and Classical Languages, the Symphony, the Art Museum, Theatre and Dance, Global Engagement, and much more. Their Lew Bagby Foreign Language and International Studies Scholarship supports Arts and Sciences students who are focusing on international studies and a foreign language.
