Two corporate partners are supporting the CO2 Storage Excellence Fund at the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources.
They are Tallgrass Energy, an industry leader with a commitment to achieving decarbonized energy solutions, and Williams, an energy infrastructure leader. Both partners contributed $250,000, which together was doubled to $1 million by State of Wyoming matching funds.
The excellence fund will provide the essential support to advance existing efforts in carbon capture, utilization, and storage—from research and demonstration to commercialization—thus benefiting the future Wyoming economy.
“We’re proud to expand our partnership with the University of Wyoming through this gift and to support the advancement of a developing field that will create new opportunities for future generations in Wyoming,” says Kyle Quackenbush, Tallgrass’s segment president over CO2. “It’s essential that we partner with the vital industries that support the communities where we operate. These partnerships help us continue to deliver innovative solutions that advance decarbonized energy.”
“Williams has a strong relationship with the University of Wyoming and is pleased to support the School of Energy Resources CO2 Storage Excellence Fund,” says Brian Hlavinka, Williams’s vice president of new energy ventures. “The fund will accelerate research, development, and deployment of CO2 storage—a powerful tool to help achieve net-zero emissions and to decarbonize hard-to-abate industrial processes.”
