Gift Planning

Legacy Society

People who give to the University of Wyoming are a select group of charitable leaders dedicated to supporting the next generation of Cowboys and Cowgirls.

The University of Wyoming Foundation Legacy Society was established in 1991 to celebrate the individuals who have so generously made an estate commitment or a deferred gift to UW. The Legacy Society membership has grown to more than 250 members and counting.

Membership

We invite you to join the Legacy Society by investing in UW through your long-term and estate plans. When you connect with our team, we ensure that your legacy is established according to your wishes for maximum impact.

We can guide you through a variety of ways to make a gift to UW while also providing for your own retirement, your family, and your other favorite charities.

The following deferred and estate gifts qualify donors for Legacy Society membership:

  • Bequests
  • Charitable remainder trusts
  • Charitable gift annuities
  • Life estates
  • Retirement-plan assets
  • Charitable lead trusts
  • Life insurance policies

We are fortunate to have so many supporters who are partnering with Wyoming’s university. Your support allows us to reach new heights, and that is evident in UW’s upward trajectory. You can see it in our facilities, in the research produced by our faculty, in the support of our extraordinary staff, and in the quality of our student body.

The Impact

Legacy Society members have made a remarkable impact on the UW programs or areas that they support.

Here are some examples:

  • A scholarship that supports students in the college from which they graduated
  • A travel stipend for graduate students and/or faculty to present their research
  • A contribution to the department from which the donor graduated that can be applied where it is most needed
  • A fund to support Cowboy and Cowgirl athletics
  • A fund that helps graduate students and faculty perform cutting-edge research
  • A named professorship or deanship
  • A named gift that contributes to the construction of a new building
  • A named gift that creates a program, supports an initiative, or creates a center

Your charitable contributions have shaped our past and will help determine our future. With your help we can fulfill the vision for a strong and dynamic University of Wyoming.
