To help them maximize their potential, the UW Trustees have established a policy requiring new students to live in UW residence halls during their first academic year on campus and to contract for a minimum of a 12-accesses-per-week dining plan.

The University of Wyoming offers many options, including single rooms, suites, and double-occupancy rooms. As for learning communities in the halls, there are FIGs and LLCs.  that provide students an opportunity to reside in close proximity with others who share similar interests.

A First-Year Interest Group (FIG) is one type of Living Learning Community (LLC). Students live on the same floor or pod of a designated residence hall and attend various events with their FIG Residence Assistant (RA) and a faculty sponsor. Other floors or half-floors have special designations. For example, there are floors for engineering majors, a Foodies LLC, a dedicated house for honors students, and many more options.

For first-year students, Saddle Up is a required program that takes place one week before the the start of the semester. For current move-in dates, check the Residence Life and Dining website.

The current Dining Hall hours and prices can be accessed at the Dining website.

If you know you a person that you already wish to room with, you can request that person on the contract when you apply.  You both must request each other. If you do not have a choice already, you might meet someone during the New Student Days or by connecting to others on social media. If you still do not have a roommate, during room selection, you can view potential roommate's preferences such as preferred quiet hours and select a person who you think you will connect well with.
