Caroline McCracken-Flesher, Director of the Center for Global Studies, is a Professor in English. She was educated at Edinburgh, Oxford and Brown universities, and from her research she established the UW in Scotland program as a model for Wyoming’s university engagement across disciplines and around the world. Today, there are 14 faculty cohorts building relationships and opportunities for students from Scotland to South Asia, Australia to Latin America and the Caribbean. Dr. McCracken-Flesher is widely published in Scottish Studies, was named a Fellow of the Society for Scottish Literature in 2016, has served as Convenor of the International Association for the Study of Scottish Literatures, and serves on the board of the National Trust for Scotland USA. She holds one of UW’s highest honors, as a winner of the Duke Humphrey Award, and has been recognized for her work by the Clan Scott Society. She has held fellowships at the Beinecke and Huntington libraries, the Advanced Institute for Study in the Humanities at Edinburgh University, the Brandeis Summer Institute, Jane Austen’s Chawton House Library, and the Albright Institute for Archaeological Research in Jerusalem.
