The Haub School’s fully online Graduate Certificate in Collaborative Practice offers flexible, asynchronous coursework designed for working professionals and graduate students who want to build real-world skills in stakeholder engagement, conflict resolution, and collaborative problem-solving. Rooted in the Haub School’s deep expertise and decades-long leadership in collaborative decision-making, this certificate draws on the experience and impact of the Ruckelshaus Institute—an institute within the Haub School that advances the understanding and practice of inclusive, participatory resource management in the West.

This nine-credit program provides a foundation in negotiation and collaborative theory, paired with tools and strategies for navigating complex environmental and natural resource challenges in cross-sector, interdisciplinary contexts.

Admission Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 3.0 undergraduate GPA (conditional admission available for experienced professionals)

Courses: Students complete a total of nine credit hours. All students take two required courses—Negotiation and Principles and Methods in Collaborative Practice—which provide a foundation in conflict resolution and collaborative theory. They then select one elective from the following list to tailor the certificate to their professional goals. Courses marked with an asterisk (*) are offered in an accelerated 8-week format for added flexibility.
