International Education Week

International Education Week (IEW), which takes place November 15 - 19, 2021, is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education that draws attention to the value of international education. The University of Wyoming celebrates IEW annually with a wide range of activities, international food, and events.

International Education Week often brings opportunities for students, staff and faculty to explore international programming such as:

  • country poster presentation sessions, etiquette dinner presented by International Students & Scholars;
  • information sessions, alumni panels, and study abroad scholarship workshops for Education Abroad programs and;
  • International Scholarship Showcase and International Faculty Friday discussions.

UW's Global Engagement Office encourages students, faculty, and staff to share their international stories and experiences on social media using #WyoGlobal.

Not just for international studies or political science majors! The State Department is actively recruiting information management, computer science, engineering and other technical majors as well. Students with STEM and business backgrounds are highly encouraged to attend!

 Roberto’s visit is co-sponsored by the Center for International Human Rights Law & Advocacy at the College of Law, the SPPAIS Latin America and Caribbean Cohort, and the Global Engagement Office.  Roberto is an expert in comparative Constitutional law, equality principles and jurisprudence, transitional Justice, and democracy questions as applied to Latin America, including Carlos Nino’s work on deliberative democracy.

An event for faculty, staff, advisors, and administration at all Wyoming community colleges and the University of Wyoming. Panelists will discuss supporting international students on Wyoming college campuses from first inquiry to graduation to being a valued alumn. Discussion will cover challenges Wyoming colleges face when it comes to recruiting, student support systems, the importance of administration support, how internationalization impacts the state, and how international offices can support your work with international students.

IEW Photo Contest

Do you have photos from your international adventures that you would like to share with the University of Wyoming campus community?  Are you here from abroad and want to show off your photos during your time in the United States?  If so, submit your photos to the Global Engagement Office's annual International Photo Contest and enter to win prizes!  The WyoGlobal International Photo Contest is open to all UW students, staff, and faculty to submit their photos1 

Requirements, photo examples, what to include and what to avoid, information on prizes, and judging criteria can all be found in the attached "WyoGlobal International Photo Contest Guidelines".  If you wish to submit 1-2 photos in the categories that pertain to you, please do so by using this online submission form.  The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, November 3rd at 11:59 pm (no late entries will be accepted). 

Voting and judging will take place the week of November 8th - 12th.  Winners will be announced at our International Photo Contest Reception on Thursday, November 18th at 5 pm on the first floor of the Cheney International Center!  The top 36 photos of the photo contest will be displayed in the Cheney International Center until our next annual photo contest

Get Involved

Calling all colleges, departments, and student organizations to get involved and share the various international aspects of UW! 

Whether it is a uniquely designed activity specifically for International Education Week or an event that reflects the internationalization efforts of UW, we look forward to celebrating and deepening the global impact of our institution.

We encourage you to spotlight your international students and faculty, returned education abroad students, and international research. Suggested activities include cultural demonstrations, panel discussions, professional development training, and more.

Students and Faculty/Staff may submit appropriate events that will occur during International Education Week for inclusion in our online calendar and in printed publications. Faculty/staff and student groups can request funds up to a maximum of $250 per event for a fall 2021 IEW event. The committee has a small amount of funds available and awards will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

We will however be happy to promote any event, regardless of if you are awarded funding.
