International Education Week (IEW) is an initiative of the US Dept. of State and the US Dept. of Education that draws attention to the value of international education. The University of Wyoming celebrates IEW annually with a wide range of activities, international food, and events. IEW often brings opportunities for students, staff and faculty to explore international programming such as:

  • Country poster presentation session, etiquette dinner presented by International Students Association
  • Information sessions, alumni panels, and study abroad scholarship workshops for Education Abroad programs
  • International Scholarship Showcase and more

WyoGlobal encourages everyone to share their international stories and experiences on social media using #WyoGlobal.

International Studies Undergrad Program and SPPAIS Review of International Studies Program | Arts & Sciences Room 226 | 1:30-3:00 PM 

A review of the work of the International Studies (INST) undergraduate program in facilitating international education at UW, including outcomes of the program of study, history of CGS-INST collaboration, and a Q&A for students interested in INST majors.

Join WyoGlobal in officially kicking off UW's 2023 International Education Week. Please join us on Monday afternoon for a beverage or pastry to start off International Education Week! Country Displays will be awarded during this event.

Half Acre Climbing | Half Acre Gym | 6:00 PM-9:00 PM

Join the Outdoor Program for a night of climbing at the Half Acre Climbing Wall! Outdoor Program staff will be around to teach new skills, belay climbers on the ropes, and answer any questions. No experience is necessary and all equipment will be provided for no cost.

Creating Opportunity in the Classroom and Department: Celebrating International Student Contribution and Exploring Challenges | Family Room, Wyoming Union | 11:00 AM-12:00 PM

Presented by: International Students and Scholars.

Our international student panel will share the challenges that they have faced in navigating a new culture and academic system, and how faculty and staff have helped them overcome these challenges. We will follow with a round-table discussion of how you can/utilize the diversity of thought, background, and culture that international students bring to UW to enhance the educational opportunity for all in your classroom and department! Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the students in an open and trusting environment.

Hosted by Yi-Ling Chen, Yuki Ayukawa, and Keonghee (Tao) Han. Everyone is welcome! Bring your favorite tea home, share your stories of culture (and cultural/traditional dress if you would like) and history, and enjoy Asian treats!

UWYO Abroad: Passport Application Assistance | Room 129, Cheney International Center | 1:00-3:00 PM

Need help applying for your passport? UW Education Abroad, in conjunction with the Albany County Courthouse, is hosting a passport application assistance event for students who need to apply for/renew a passport. Students can ask questions about a passport, or fill out an application on site. Forms will be available to fill out and payment will be accepted as well. Copiers and printers will be provided. If you would like to complete your application at this event, please prepare and bring the documents and payment listed here. We hope to see you there!

Experience the music of Bali, as the Wyoming Candra Wyoga Gamelan demonstrates the various instruments. Balinese food will be available courtesy of the Language and Food class. Ten students from the Shanghai University of Sport reach the high plains of Wyoming and embark on adventures in scholarship and Nordic skiing. The South Asian Cohort and Center for Global Studies presents Bollywood Movie Night. Movie: Dangal - an inspiring, emotional story based on the true life of a dad and his journey of having his daughters compete nationally in wrestling, despite it being a male-dominated sport. Snacks to be provided. Please bring blankets and pillows as to make a comfortable space on the floor to watch the movie!

UW Etiquette Dinner | Union Ballroom, Wyoming Union | 6:00-10:00 PM

Join ISA to celebrate an etiquette dinner from cultures around the world! Tickets for the event are required and will be available to students and community members. There will be a food drive during the dinner as well, to support our community, where you can contribute non-perishable food items and/or cash.

Get Involved

Calling all colleges, departments, and student organizations to get involved and share the various international aspects of UW! 

Whether it is a uniquely designed activity specifically for International Education Week or an event that reflects the internationalization efforts of UW, we look forward to celebrating and deepening the global impact of our institution.

We encourage you to spotlight your international students and faculty, returned education abroad students, and international research. Suggested activities include cultural demonstrations, panel discussions, professional development training, and more.

Students and Faculty/Staff may submit appropriate events that will occur during International Education Week for inclusion in our online calendar and in printed publications.

The deadline for event submission is open until October 16th. If you'd like to submit for fall 2023, please contact iew@uwyo.edu
