Nominations can be submitted through the IT Awards Nomination Form for each of the following awards.


Innovator Award

  • Making a significant contribution in their area through an innovative use of existing or new technologies or visionary project leadership
  • Displaying a bold vision to help move IT into the next generation of technology use
  • Shows courage to challenge the status quo by identifying opportunities for improvement and proposing new approaches
  • Willingness to take thoughtful risks and to learn through failure to create positive change

Excellence in Leadership Award

  • Motivated staff member who goes above and beyond to achieve the goals of their department, division or team
  • Models high standards of performance, accountability, and commitment that inspire others to do their best work
  • Motivated to teach, share knowledge, and actively looking for ways to help others grow
  • Fosters a strong sense of community, trust, and collaboration within their team and beyond

Excellence in Teamwork Award

  • Actively works with others to help achieve goals, complete tasks or meet deadlines, even if not directly their own
  • Open to ideas and collaborating to identify and overcome challenges
  • Encouraging, and supportive of those they work with
  • Establishes or improves communication channels, cadences, or norms

IT Customer Service & Spirit Award

  • Remains positive throughout challenging circumstances when working with customers, within IT and/or the UW community
  • Helps to plan external events for the department or go out of their way to promote IT.
  • Has excellent rapport with clients/customers.

OR

  • Enjoys creating an environment where IT staff members can come together to bond as a group.
  • Helps to plan internal events for the department and go out of their way to promote IT team spirit.
  • Has excellent rapport with staff and students in IT.

Makes IT Happen Award

  • Quietly enables team and organizational success through their steady and dependable efforts
  • Anticipates potential needs and addresses problems before escalation  
  • Prioritizes a high standard of work over recognition

Outstanding Student Employee Award

  • Going above and beyond the standard work expectations
  • Displaying leadership skills and acting as a mentor to other student employees
  • Self-starter who shows initiative to identify and resolve problems
  • Being open to learning new skills and taking on challenging projects
  • Producing high quality work, showing an exemplary attitude, or making significant contributions that have had a positive impact on the department
