An endorsement in School Health Education K-12 for Wyoming Public Schools is available
to individuals who have completed or are in the process of completing a teacher certification
in another area (e.g. physical education K-12; elementary education). In addition
to meeting the requirements for teacher certification in a given content area at the
secondary level from an approved university or college program, an individual must
complete the following coursework to be endorsed to teach Health Education at the
secondary level in the public schools of Wyoming:
- FCSC 1140 Nutrition
- HLED 1006 Personal Health
- HLED 4025 Teaching Sensitive Issues in Human Sexuality: Methods and Concepts
- HLED 4110 Teaching Health in Schools K-12
- HLED 4120 Assessment in Heath Education K-12
- HLED 4130 Management of Comprehensive School Health Education Programs
- HLED 4900 Topics: Alcohol and Substance Abuse (recommended) or PSYC 2210 Drugs and
Behavior (accepted option)
(Classes are available through UW On-Campus, UW Outreach School, and Wyoming Community Colleges.)
Individuals receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education Teacher Education
from the University of Wyoming must complete the following courses to be certified
to teach Health Education in the public school of Wyoming:
- HLED 4025 Teaching Sensitive Issues in Human Sexuality
- HLED 4110 Teaching Health in Schools K-12
- HLED 4120 Assessment in Heath Education K-12
- HLED 4130 Management of Comprehensive School Health Education Programs
- HLED 4900 Topics: Alcohol and Substance Abuse (recommended) or PSYC 2210 Drugs and
Behavior (accepted option)
