The University of Wyoming’s Office of Engagement and Outreach is accepting nominations for the 2019 Marvin Millgate Community Engagement Awards.
The deadline for submission is Friday, Feb. 22.
The Marvin Millgate Community Engagement Awards recognize individuals and groups at UW and in the community who have rendered exceptional engagement and service to Wyoming communities. Separate awards are given for faculty, staff, students and community partners. Each award provides a $1,000 stipend.
The Engaged Faculty Award is presented to one faculty member whose demonstrated scholarship and/or practice of engagement significantly advances knowledge-sharing between academic disciplines and the public. Those eligible are full-time, tenured/tenure-track faculty members, or academic professional lecturer/research scientist/extension educators (extended-term track).
The Engaged Staff Award recognizes one staff member at the university who both supports learning and development through community engagement and builds strong, reciprocal relationships between the campus and the community. All full-time staff members are eligible.
The Student Engagement Award recognizes one outstanding full-time student or recognized student organization that has been engaged in service-learning or other service opportunities that have made a tangible difference in the community.
The Excellence in Community Partnership Award recognizes community organizations that have rendered exceptional outreach and/or engagement within Wyoming’s communities through partnership with UW. Awards will be presented to community organizations with a distinguished record of engagement. Recipients of these awards have made a significant contribution to their communities and enhanced the institution’s culture of engagement, further establishing and strengthening the university’s commitment to supporting the state’s communities.
