Student volunteers are being sought for various committees that bring quality entertainment to University of Wyoming students throughout the semester.
The UW Campus Activities Center’s (CAC) campuswide activities group, 7220 Entertainment, selects, plans, promotes and presents a variety of popular entertainment programs and films that enhance the social and cultural life of UW students.
The program is currently seeking committee members to join one or more of its five committees responsible for planning student events throughout the academic year.
7220 Entertainment is composed of the Films Committee, Fine Arts and Lectures Committee, Large Scale Events Committee, Late-Night Events Committee and Club Events Committee.
The Films Committee provides free, full-length feature films on a weekly basis. Selections may include current major studio releases, documentaries, cult films, throwback films and public domain films. The committee meets Mondays at 4 p.m. in Room 012 of the Wyoming Union.
The Fine Arts and Lectures Committee provides cultural, artistic, educational programs and thought-provoking lectures to UW and the surrounding community. The committee meets Tuesdays at 5 p.m. in Room 012 of the Wyoming Union.
The Large Scale Events Committee brings large-scale entertainers to UW. The committee attempts to deliver diverse acts throughout the academic year, including speakers, musicians, comedians and other performers. The events put on by this committee serve both the UW and Laramie communities. The committee meets Wednesdays at 5 p.m. in Room 012 of the Wyoming Union.
The Late-Night Events Committee provides “free quality entertainment that is fun, unique, exciting and takes place during targeted prime social hours” to UW students, says Sarah Devine, CAC marketing coordinator.
The committee plans and executes large-scale, multitiered programs on specifically targeted nights and weekends as determined by the CAC. The committee meets Thursdays at 5 p.m. in Room 012 of the Wyoming Union.
The Club Events Committee provides weekly events and activities for UW students, including music, comedy, speakers, trips and special events. The committee meets Mondays at 4 p.m. in Room 012 of the Wyoming Union.
