The University of Wyoming Department of Music’s Spotlight Series continues Thursday, April 11, with the Collegiate Chorale’s performance, “Legacy.”
Directed by UW Department of Music Associate Professor Nicole Lamartine, the concert will be held in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets cost $12.50 for the public, $8.50 for senior citizens and $6.50 for students. Tickets are available through the UW Performing Arts box office and the Wyoming Union information desk, by calling (307) 766-6666 or going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
“Through music, stories, memories and student prose, we will explore the idea of how goodness now translates into goodness later; how we can leave a positive mark on our communities; and how music can be a part of how we are remembered,” Lamartine says.
The performance will include a piece by Benjamin Britten, “Hymn to St. Cecilia.” Dave Matthews’ “Gravedigger” will add a contemporary twist, and the program closes with a set of pieces from African cultures, passed down through centuries of oral tradition.
Significant donor Greg Dyekman, of Cheyenne, along with his three sisters will be honored at the concert.
