More than 640 of Wyoming’s best and brightest high school students from 34 schools participated in the recent Wyoming Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference at the University of Wyoming’s College of Business.
Students competed for cash awards and the opportunity to represent Wyoming at the National FBLA Conference in San Antonio, Texas, June 29-July 2.
Participants from across the state attended the conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in business and business-related competitive events.
“We are excited to formalize our growing partnership with the Wyoming FBLA through sponsorship of the state leadership conference over the next five years,” says Steve Russell, director of the College of Business Student Success Center. “This partnership is the college’s continued commitment to the success of Wyoming’s students, who we look forward to seeing on campus one day.”
In addition to competitions, students immersed themselves in interactive workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit area and heard from motivational speakers on a broad range of business topics.
Approximately 300 students and advisers will now represent Wyoming at the national level.
"All the planning and preparation for this conference mean nothing until those students arrive,” says Barb Frates, state chairperson of Wyoming FBLA. “It is so fun to watch as 640 of the best students in our state showcase what they have been working on for so long with presentations, reports, projects and campaigns. I cannot thank UW College of Business enough for welcoming our FBLA members into their beautiful facilities for this WHSAA culminating event, and we look forward to coming back in the years to come."
