An open summer session on how to conduct fair and equitable searches to fill vacant and new positions for University of Wyoming employees is scheduled Tuesday, July 30.
The UW Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is offering the session from 2-3 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Family Room.
“Attending this session could substitute for the required individual diversity analyst consultation,” says Chief Diversity Officer Emily Monago.
Topics to be covered are in the recently updated search committee handbook, “Conducting a Fair and Equitable Search: Best Practices.” The handbook provides resource links and guidance for search committees, including ways to prepare individual areas for diverse recruitment; effective and fair methods for evaluating candidates; introductory information on implicit bias and evaluator error; ways to welcome new diverse faculty and staff; and working with search firms.
“Search committee chairs, search committee members, UW employees in departments that may have positions to fill before the start of the fall semester and all other UW employees who wish to learn more about conducting fair and equitable searches are encouraged to attend,” Monago says.
Individual appointments are still available, she adds.
For more information or to RSVP to attend, call 766-6672 or email diversity@uwyo.edu.
