A screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” a mummy-wrapping contest and mini-pumpkin painting are among events planned for the Rocky Horror Picture Show Extravaganza at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at the University of Wyoming. Events will be in the Wyoming Union’s upper level.
The night’s featured performance will be a shadow cast edition of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” UW’s 7220 Entertainment will host a costume contest, mini-pumpkin painting, a mummy-wrapping contest and a Halloween-themed photo booth. All events are free and open to the public, which includes food. Only students are eligible for the contests’ prizes.
The mummy-wrapping contest will take place in the Family Room. Sign-ups are now being accepted at the Campus Activities Center (CAC) in Room 012 of the Wyoming Union. Two rounds of competition will be held, with winners each receiving a $50 gift card to the University Store.
The costume contest will begin at 9 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. First- and second-place prizes for best costume will be awarded, and another prize for the best “Rocky Horror Picture Show”-themed costume will be handed out.
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” shadow cast performance will begin at 9:30 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Ballroom, with doors opening at 8:30 p.m. A shadow cast version of the show will feature participants performing the show live in front of a screening of the movie while lip-syncing the film’s songs.
Attendees must be 18 or older to attend the performance, and IDs will be checked at the doors. The UW Associated Students of the Performing Arts organized and directed the shadow cast.
The 7220 Entertainment Late-Night Events Committee and the 7220 Entertainment Films Committee co-host the extravaganza. The Late-Night Events Committee meets Wednesdays at 4 p.m., and the Films Committee meets Thursdays at 4 p.m. in Room 012 of the Wyoming Union.
Individuals needing assistance to attend this event should call the CAC at (307) 766-6340.
