The University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance, in conjunction with the UW Honors College, will feature 2015 Eminent Artist-in-Residence Paul O’Mahony and Troels Hagen Findsen in their acclaimed Out of Chaos production of “Macbeth.”
This limited two-night engagement runs Friday-Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26, at 7:30 p.m. both nights on the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts main stage.
Limited tickets are $14 for the public, $11 for senior citizens and $7 for students. Tickets are available at the Performing Arts box office and the Wyoming Union information desk, by calling (307) 766-6666 or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
The production will feature the two performers from Actors From The London Stage and Out of Chaos, a London-based award-winning theater company. Mike Tweddle, Out of Chaos’ former co-artistic director, directs “Macbeth.”
The production packs all the drama, intrigue and madness of “Macbeth” into 80 minutes, with 20 characters brought to life by O’Mahony and Findsen. The contemporary production highlights Shakespeare’s themes of manipulation, guilt and power, with energy and wit, according to recent reviews.
The pair’s Out of Chaos company’s production of “Macbeth” premiered in February 2016. It received a five-star review in Reviews Hub and was staged in 15 venues in the United Kingdom. The piece toured the U.K. again in 2018 -- a tour that also marked Out of Chaos’ U.S. debut at the prestigious Off the Map festival in Utah, becoming only the third U.K. company to be invited.
Led by artistic director O’Mahony, Out of Chaos produces shows that are ambitious, generous and skillful. The company combines physical theater, rigorous text work, original music and anarchic comedy to produce a style The Guardian has described as “expertly performed and stupidly entertaining.” Out of Chaos has toured more than 250 theaters around the world.
O’Mahony has devised, written and performed multiple productions that have toured worldwide. He has performed around the world with many companies, including the Royal Shakespeare Company. He is an associate producer at Jermyn Street Theatre.
Findsen is a Danish actor, performer/creator, writer, director and musician who has created and performed in various works in Denmark and abroad. He is an associate artist of Out of Chaos.
