A weekly look at issues facing Wyoming business owners and entrepreneurs from the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network, a collection of business assistance programs at the University of Wyoming.
By Jill Kline, state director, Wyoming SBDC Network
For a state with a small population, resources for Wyoming entrepreneurs are abundant. However, the question from business owners in all stages of their life cycle is often: “That’s great. But where do I start?” The answer is an easy one: Start right here with the Wyoming SBDC Network.
This is not a self-serving advertisement piece. The goal of these Biz Tips is to provide small-business owners with practical information they can use to grow their businesses. And the fact is the Wyoming SBDC Network is the front door to all of the statewide resources entrepreneurs can access.
Not only do we provide high-quality and practical business advising across all facets of commercial operations, but every member of our staff regularly interacts with representatives of business resource organizations across the state.
Because our regional directors are stationed strategically throughout Wyoming to serve all business owners and potential business owners, our paths cross with every business and economic development player in Wyoming.
Here are just a few of those organizations: Wyoming Business Council; Wyoming Women’s Business Center; Manufacturing Works; Wyoming Technology Business Centers; local economic development authorities; local chambers of commerce, downtown or main street programs; UW entrepreneurial assistance; and the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services.
Our role as business advisers goes far beyond sitting across the table and talking. The strength of the Wyoming SBDC Network is our ability to assess your needs and connect you with the many resources you might not have found yourself. Such support organizations can provide assistance in raising capital; locating real estate opportunities; providing incubator space; and accessing other advantages for your business.
Your Wyoming SBDC Network team and adviser support you through every step of your business life cycle, and our networking ability allows us to refer you to the right resource that matches any of your additional needs. Our services are no-cost and completely confidential for all entrepreneurs looking to start, grow or even exit their businesses.
The next time you find yourself saying, “I wonder if …,” “How could I …,” or “What would be the best place to go to …,” visit our website at www.wyomingsbdc.org to contact your nearest Wyoming SBDC Network adviser. You’ll not only get your answer, but you will receive a contact name and a place to start to access the resources and assistance you need to innovate, grow and meet your business goals.
The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their businesses. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by UW with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
