Approval Process for New and Revised UW Regulations and Standard Administrative Policies & Procedures (SAPs)

Process for Approval of New and Revised UW Regulations -

For new regulations, revised regulations, or regulations that need to be rescinded:

  • Vice President works with General Counsel and applicable stakeholders to revise and have the regulation reviewed.

  • General Counsel sends the regulation to campus groups, including Faculty Senate, Staff Senate, ASUW, Deans, and Internal Audit.

  • The campus groups have 4 weeks to review and are urged to share with all of their constituents to solicit feedback.

  • General Counsel will take the regulation and feedback to the President and the Trustee Regulation Committee for review, incorporation of feedback as needed, and approval.

  • The Trustee Regulation Committee and the General Counsel will take the regulation to the Full Board for approval.

For new SAPs, revised SAPs, or SAPs that need to be rescinded:

  • Originator of the SAP sends to their Vice President for review and approval.

  • Vice President works with General Counsel and applicable stakeholders to revise and have the SAP reviewed.

  • General Counsel sends the SAP to campus groups, including Faculty Senate, Staff Senate, ASUW, Deans, and Internal Audit.

  • The campus groups have 3 weeks to review and are urged to share with all of their constituents to solicit feedback.

  • General Counsel will work with the originator and Vice President to incorporate feedback as needed.

  • General Counsel will send the SAP to the President for approval.
