Station Request Form
Use this form to request housing, meeting rooms, or other station resources.
General Housing Information
The UW-NPS Research Station welcomes researchers from many fields of science and humanities during our field season, from June 1-September 30. All overnight guests are required to submit a housing application which includes an explanation of how their visit will further the mission and vision of the UW-NPS research station.
How to apply for accommodations at UW-NPS Research Station: All researchers requesting overnight accommodations will be required to submit a Housing & Space Request form. Please be specific and thorough in the completion of your application. Incomplete requests may result in delayed or deprioritized reservations.
Please be prepared with the following information:
- Billing information
- And more
When to apply for overnight accommodations: Priority housing applications for researchers open in the winter, and are reviewed in the spring, prior to the summer field season. All priority requests will be reviewed at once, without regard for submission date, with priority allocated based on how well the application fits the mission and vision of the UW-NPS Research Station. Any requests that do not meet the priority deadline will be reviewed in the order in which they are received. For specific priority housing application dates and deadlines, please see our Housing & Space Request form.
We highly recommend that large groups (>6 people) and long-term researchers (visiting for more than 2 weeks) apply for priority housing.
Early Housing Requests: For researchers who need advance notice on housing availability, especially for large groups such as classes, we review early housing applications on a case-by-case basis. All early housing applications must be submitted by the deadline (communicated each year through our mailing list) and will require a 50% non-refundable deposit.
Housing placement:
All housing at the UW-NPS research station is dorm-style, meaning that you may be placed in a room with researchers that are not part of your group. Housing placements will be based on application merits, and then by applicant and group demographics. The more thorough and detailed you are about your group details in your housing application, the higher your priority will be during priority housing request reviews.
Though you may initially be assigned a particular building or room, this is subject to change up until your day of arrival. Researcher plans often change, and facilities maintenance is ongoing so this can mean last minute adjustments to the location of lodging for your visit.
Please see Facilities - Cabins and Bedrooms for details.
Special housing requests and requirements: Applicants may request specific accommodations, however, these requests are not guaranteed. Because of our dorm-style housing, it is very important to note any special requests (preferences) or requirements (non-negotiable) in your application.
Examples of special requests include:
- You prefer a space with your entire group housed together
- You prefer a space with your own kitchen
- You prefer a room without your technician
- Anything that you prefer, but that will not prevent you from being housed at the research station if the request cannot be met.
Examples of special requirements include:
- Your institution requires separate housing for students and PIs
- One of your group members has a serious medical condition (immunocompromised, deadly allergy, etc.) that requires private sleeping areas, or kitchens.
- You will not be housed with someone of a different gender than you
- Anything that will prevent you from being housed at the research station if the request cannot be met.
Guests: Overnight guests (including friends and family of station guests) are not allowed without reservations.
