STAR: Industry Co-Innovation Award

STAR supports one-year, applied projects led by a UW PI and in partnership with an industry partner to advance a technology toward commercial viability. The expected project structure is a $100,000 NSF ART direct-cost award matched by a minimum $100,000 industry cash commitment; prospective applicants who need help identifying an industry partner are encouraged to contact the ART Team or OISP early to help find partners for this opperunity.

Postdoctoral Commercialization Fellowship

This one-year fellowship provides a current UW postdoctoral researcher or graduating PhD candidate transitioning to a UW postdoctoral position to advance a University technology toward implementation. Fellows remain embedded in their mentor’s lab while pursuing technical de-risking, customer discovery, business development, and entrepreneurial training, culminating in a major translational milestone such as an SBIR application, startup formation and fundraising, or a significant industry partnership.

NSF ART Travel Grants

Rolling travel grants of up to $3,000 are available to UW faculty, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and staff conducting translational or use-inspired research. Funding supports purposeful travel for customer discovery, industry or partner meetings, technology and investor expos, and commercialization-focused training; it is not intended for standard academic conferences or international travel.
