National Science Foundation (NSF) Accelerating Research Translation (ART) Program

Welcome to the home of the Accelerating Research Translation (ART) program at the University of Wyoming. Supported by the National Science Foundation, the ART initiative is dedicated to bridging the gap between academic discovery and real world impact. Our mission is to strengthen UW’s institutional capacity for use-inspired research, ensuring that groundbreaking work from our labs reaches the public as tangible solutions and economic drivers. By fostering a vibrant ecosystem of student ambassadors, faculty mentors, and industry partners, we are streamlining the pathway from innovation to application while empowering the next generation of researchers to lead in technology transfer and regional development.

The ART program is driven by a robust leadership team dedicated to cultivating a new culture of innovation at the University of Wyoming. Parag Chitnis, PhD, Vice-President for Research and Economic Development, serves as the Principal Investigator, joined by UW President Ed Seidel and Deputy Vice President for Research and Innovation Arundeep Pradhan as co-principal investigators.

The leadership team oversees a comprehensive suite of mentorship and training initiatives designed to support every level of the university community. Central to this effort is the ART Ambassador program, which empowers researchers to champion innovation, and the ARTISAN program, specifically tailored to provide undergraduates comprehensive training and hands-on experience in use-inspired research. Complemented by a newly rebuilt Technology Transfer Office, these programs provide the specialized training and administrative support necessary to navigate the path from lab to market, collectively fortifying the innovation ecosystem across the entire state.
