Services include:
- Disposal of chemical, biological, radioactive, and universal wastes (such as batteries and mercury-containing fluorescent lamps). Whenever possible, this program seeks to reduce, reuse or recycle in order to minimize disposal costs and environmental impact.
- Purchasing/receiving radioactive materials;
- Shipping of hazardous materials/dangerous goods in compliance with Department of Transportation and IATA regulations;
- Staff in this area also conduct industrial waste water sampling and perform spill cleanup.
These programs are overseen by Hazardous Materials Supervisor Rene Mendez.
