Winner of the 3rd (2025) photo competition

Mrunali Dhokne, PhD student (Dr. Ram Shukla lab), Zoology and Physiology

A striking visualization of Golgi-stained single pyramidal neuron from the medial prefrontal cortex, captured using Confocal Microscopy. The image is Z-stacked using FIJI. The image highlights the full dendritic arbor in detail, revealing the complex branching that supports higher-order cortical processing and a distinct axon emerging out from the soma making connections with other neurons.
