CASI is a staffed core facility that houses state-of-the-art instrumentation that enables analyses of a diverse range of specimens. The center is committed to serving the UW faculty, students, and other stakeholders in Wyoming and beyond for research and educational purposes. CASI is located in the Science Initiative Building (SIB). Vibration and light-sensitive instrumentation, including several confocal light microscopes, TEM and FIB-SEM electron microscopes, and a micro-CT are housed in spaces on the 1st floor of the SIB (click here for maps). These rooms are designed to minimize vibrations and are electomagnetically shielded, ensuring high-quality imaging. Instruments that are less sensitive to vibration are housed in the CASI showcase and can be found on the third floor of the SIB (click here for maps), and currently features a single crystal X-ray diffractometer (XRD).
Funding for CASI (Single Crystal X-Ray Diffractometer, SD Confocal spINBRE TIRF and spINBRE SuperRes, and partial staff support and user subsidies) was/is provided by NIH Wyoming IDeA Networks for Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE). WY INBRE is supported by an Institutional Development Award (IDeA) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under Grant # 2P20GM103432.
