Assistant Research Professional, Chemical Engineering

LC is a Research Professional here at the School of Energy Resources, where he’s been
contributing to innovative solutions since 2021. He plays a key role in the groundbreaking
coal-to-asphalt project in collaboration with the Western Research Institute—a venture
he finds especially compelling for its potential to sustainably repurpose a regional
resource and drive new economic opportunities.
LC holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from North-West University (South Africa),
where his doctoral research focused on developing sustainable materials, and also
completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the same institution. Prior to his academic
career, he worked as a process and project engineer in the UAE’s oil and gas industry,
gaining valuable field experience that now informs his research approach.
