Short-Term Visiting Scholars

School of Computing

The School of Computing is pleased to offer grants to support short-term visiting scholars. The grants, up to $10,000 per visitor, may support visiting faculty, post-docs, or advanced graduate students (in the final 2 years of studies). The funds may be used to cover travel, lodging, and meal costs as well as a stipend for the visiting scholar.

 

Visiting scholars may contribute, but are not limited to:

  • Planning on incorporating and/or advancing computing in strategic areas such as student mentorship; external funding development; advancing UW strategic initiatives such as Tier 1 Engineering, Science Initiative, Wyoming Innovation Partnership, etc.
  • Computing related courses through guest lectures, curriculum development, etc.
  • Advancing the role of computing across the university through presentations, workshops, or meetings that address new computing research, new industry/community engagement based on computing.

 

Proposals

Concise proposals (no more than one page) in PDF format should include the following elements:

  1. Faculty name and academic unit
  2. Name and CV / Resume of visiting scholar
  3. Description of proposed activities

 

  • Summarize the planned contribution of the visiting scholar to advance computing research, learning, and/or engagement at the University of Wyoming
  • Describe the visit timeline and plan of work
  • What are the envisioned deliverables/outcomes?

 

Proposals should be submitted to uwyo-soc@uwyo.edu on an ongoing basis until funds are expended.

 

Budget

Proposals should attach a budget and budget justification for up to $10,000 that must be expended by the end of the fiscal year. Funds can be used for:

  • Travel, lodging, and meals for the visiting scholar
  • Stipend for visiting scholar
