What is needed to apply
The following items are needed to submit a complete application for consideration to the MSW Program. You can download the MSW Program Application Checklist (PDF) to help ensure you complete all the necessary steps to submit a complete application.

1. Pay the College of Health Sciences/Division of Social Work application fee of $30 using TouchNet. If you do not have a University of Wyoming student ID or W Number, please put in W followed by eight zeros. |

2. Complete the Graduate Application Online. If you have never applied to UW before, you will be asked to pay an additional $50 application fee. |

3. Complete and Upload Required Documents: The following documents are required components of the MSW application. Please have them prepared and available to upload to your online application. |

b. Unofficial College Transcripts: Transcripts should show that the applicant meets the program’s academic requirements. Official transcripts will be required if admitted into the program. |

f. Letters of Recommendation: You need three letters of recommendation from an academic or professional source. At the end of your application, you will be asked to provide the names and email addresses of your referees. The application program will then email them a link, which they can use to upload their letters. You will not be able to upload letters yourself. |
Background Check: Applicants who are provisionally accepted into the MSW program are required to complete a background check. The College of Health Sciences uses the external company Certiphi Screening to conduct background checks for students applying to professional programs in the college. A background check is required only after an applicant has been provisionally accepted into the program.
You do not need to complete a background check when you apply or while your application is under review. If you receive notification that you have been provisionally accepted into the MSW program, you will then receive step-by-step instructions from the Division of Social Work on how to complete the background check. A successful background check is required to begin the program. The background check fee is $79.
Graduate Assistantship Application (OPTIONAL): We have a limited number of half-time graduate assistantships in the division. If you are interested in applying for an assistantship, complete the GA application (PDF) and upload it with your MSW application.
International Students: International students applying to the University of Wyoming must complete additional information that can be found on the Graduate International Student Admissions page.
Note: Academic credit for life experience and previous work experience is not given in lieu of the field practicum or for course credit as specified in the CSWE Educational and Accreditation Standards.
