STEP Frequently Asked Questions

- Students are limited to 90 minutes/day at STEP.
- Students cannot exceed one hour at a time with any one tutor (60 minutes) per day.
- Students can book a 30-minute, a 45-minute appointment, or two back-to-back 30-minute appointments.
STEP is not able to offer ad hoc tutoring, or tutors for classes outside our posted class list. We recommend:

- Try TutorMe. TutorMe is online, subject-based tutoring (e.g., help with "chemistry" not necessarily "CHEM 1020"). UW subscribes
to this service.
Free for UW students. Access TutorMe (login with your UWYO credentials)

Office Hours: Make your instrucotor and/or the TA’s office hours a part of your weekly routine. If their office hours do not work for you, be sure to email them and ask for accommodations.
- Study Groups:
- Ask your instructor to make an announcement in class to see if any students are interested in forming a study group with you.
- You can also see if there are existing Study Buddies group for this class available
on the Navigate app.
Navigate: Download the Navigate Student” app in the App Storeor Google Play. Once installed, log in with your UWYO credentials. You can also log in to Navigate using a browser at any time.
- Private Tutor: If you are interested in hiring a private tutor, you should ask your instructor if they can recommend students from upper division courses. You would be responsible for working out pay scale and delivery, meeting frequency/day/time, and any other details.
