Jim Mathis attended WyoTech, a trade school offering hands-on training, in 1976. Five months after graduation, he began employment at WyoTech. During this time, he held a variety of positions, all the way from Instructor to CEO.
After resigning from WyoTech in 2002, Jim took several years off and operated his
cattle ranch, located outside of Wheatland, Wyoming. From 2006 to 2014, he felt led
to help other tech schools and universities not just survive but thrive in their endeavors.
Utilizing his experience, Jim became either a consultant or CEO for four different
school groups, representing 33 campuses, from the east to the west coast. This initiative
resulted in operational restructuring through brand renewal, educational outcomes,
degree programs, expense alignment, and revenue growth. All four groups are still
in successful operation today.
In 2018, Jim partnered with another investor to purchase WyoTech after it announced
its closure. Despite the school being at an all-time low of 12 students at the time
of purchase (peak being 2500), it has now grown to well over 1000 students, with expanded
facilities to accommodate this growth.
Jim has a passion for leading people and taking on challenging situations. He surrounds
himself with great talent and leads his employees with a sense of commitment to their
students.
