UW Announces Wyoming Blockchain Stampede Events Scheduled This Fall

A startup qualifier competition, a developers conference and a public meeting to draft legislation are among events planned during the third annual Wyoming Blockchain Stampede, hosted by the University of Wyoming.

The Wyoming Blockchain Stampede, composed of six events from Sept. 23-Oct. 24, will be livestreamed within a free virtual environment. The events will cover three main blockchain themes -- sources, impact and implementation -- uniting worldwide participants with thought leaders, legislators and change makers at the forefront of major impacts to the world’s future in blockchain technology, according to event organizers.

“We’ll explore the impact of digital innovations to reduce costs and improve profits. We’ll examine sources that prove the identity and provenance of individuals and assets,” says Rich Kopcho, producer of the event. “We’re inviting participants to join discussions on implementing new laws and technologies.”

The Wyoming Blockchain Stampede events are:

-- Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology’s public meeting to draft legislation and take stakeholder input, Wednesday-Thursday, Sept. 23-24. The public is welcome and encouraged to offer comments for the committee to consider.

-- Sandcastle Invitational, Thursday, Sept. 24. The invitational, a startup qualifier competition, seeks the best and most promising blockchain, artificial intelligence and other technology startups to compete in Laramie and then Dubai for the Sandcastle Challenge finale.

-- Stampede Law Conference, Friday, Sept. 25. The all-day conference will educate, leverage and frame the benefits of what 20 new laws have to offer and the issues still to be tackled. Nine hours of continuing legal education credits will be available -- six general credits and three ethics credits.

-- WyoHackathon, Sept. 25-Oct. 24. This virtual event is designed for software developers.

-- Stampede Developers Conference, Sept. 25-Oct. 24. The conference will feature technical speakers and workshops to help attendees prepare for the WyoHackathon Challenges and to introduce new technologies, concepts and emerging standards.

-- Stampede Business Conference, Saturday, Sept. 26. The conference will feature speakers and workshops to help attendees understand the Wyoming legislative environment; the business opportunities presented by digital technologies such as blockchain; and how these technologies will attain impact in Wyoming and the worldwide economy.

“Whether you are just interested in learning more or are a pro with blockchain technologies, there will be something for every level at these events,” Kopcho says. “We want everyone to join the blockchain conversation and learn more about the opportunities it has to offer.”
