UW Humanities Panel to Discuss Technology and Culture Through Virtual Program

The Wyoming Institute for Humanities Research's (WIHR) Think and Drink virtual series of talks continues with a conversation by three technology and culture scholars.

The University of Wyoming’s WIHR will offer the virtual program Thursday, Aug. 20, at 5:30 p.m. Those interested in participating can do so by joining via a Zoom link at  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/960820100.

Drawing from both their research and teaching, the panelists will discuss how they challenge perceptions of technology to highlight its relationship to issues of ethics, equity and racial justice. Their discussion will tackle how technologies intersect with policing, surveillance and racial violence, and shape understanding of individuals and society.

Scott Henkel, WIHR director, will moderate the panel. The panelists, all from Purdue University, are:

-- Megha Anwer, a clinical assistant professor and the director of diversity, inclusion and equity in the Honors College.

-- Faithe Day, a Council on Library and Information Resources postdoctoral fellow in African and African American data curation in the College of Liberal Arts.

-- Lindsay Weinberg, a clinical assistant professor in the Honors College.
