UW Tracks COVID-19 Cases, to Launch Online Dashboard

There are nine active cases of COVID-19 among University of Wyoming students and employees. None of them are on campus.

Reporting from pre-return Vault Health tests and through UW’s COVID-19 hotline shows two new cases reported today (Friday): One is a student in Gillette; the other is an off-campus student in Laramie.

Here are the other seven active cases:

-- Two students in off-campus housing.

-- Two employees at home.

-- One student in Casper.

-- One student in Douglas.

-- One student in Tennessee.

The total of UW-related COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began is 17; eight of the individuals have recovered. One of those was an employee of the university who tested positive for the infection in early July. He was believed to have contracted the virus at a private appointment off campus. While on campus, he had been complying with UW’s campus rules on physical distancing and face protection. He self-isolated, and known contacts were notified.

The university is preparing to launch a COVID-19 dashboard to provide up-to-date information on cases of the infection and other data at www.uwyo.edu/campus-return.

In Albany County, 84 total cases have been reported as of Aug. 14.
