Casper Event to Feature UW Athletics Director, Mens Basketball Coach

University of Wyoming Athletics Director Tom Burman and men’s basketball Coach Jeff Linder will be among the speakers during a “The World Needs More Cowboys” celebration Wednesday, Sept. 30, in Casper.

The public is invited to the event from 5-7 p.m. at David Street Station. Free appetizers and beverages will be served. State guidelines to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission will be followed.

With the Mountain West Conference (MWC) announcing that the 2020 football season will kick off Saturday, Oct. 24, with an eight-game conference schedule, Burman is expected to speak about the upcoming season and provide the latest information for UW fans.

He also is scheduled to make an announcement regarding the WHYoming NOW campaign, a major fundraising effort in response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on UW athletics.

Linder, in his first year as men’s basketball coach, will discuss the upcoming season for the Cowboys -- and his highly rated class of new recruits joining a group of veterans that reached the MWC Tournament semifinals in March.

Other speakers at the Wednesday event include new UW President Ed Seidel; Casper attorney Marci Bramlet, a UW alumna and former Cowgirl soccer player featured in an advertising campaign titled “The World Needs More Cowboys -- and So Does Wyoming”; current UW students from Casper Kendra Brutsman, Mackenzie Chadderdon and Ben Radosevich; UW-Casper student Caitlyn Edwards; and UW-Casper Dean Brent Pickett.

UW faculty members and admissions representatives will be on hand to answer questions and interact with attendees on topics including the Cowboy Commitment, UW’s new merit- and need-based financial aid offerings for Wyoming high school graduates. Free UW-branded giveaway items will be available, including T-shirts to the first 50 high school students.
