UW Board of Trustees to Meet Nov. 11

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees will consider a plan to address a $42.3 million budget reduction in the current biennium during the board’s regular meeting Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 11-13.

The meeting will be conducted via teleconference.

UW President Ed Seidel is scheduled to present the budget reduction plan at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Under UW Regulation 2-12, the board directed the president to develop the plan in response to a 10 percent cut in state funding that resulted in an immediate reduced distribution from the state earlier this year.

The budget reduction plan touches both academic and nonacademic units of the university. About 80 positions, most of them currently unfilled, would be eliminated.

Several committees of the board will meet through the day Wednesday, starting with the Biennium Budget Committee at 8 a.m.

Thursday’s meeting of the full board will begin with an executive session at 8 a.m., with the public session slated to start at 9:30 a.m.

In addition to the budget reduction presentation Thursday, the board is scheduled to receive an update on UW’s COVID-19 response; the Trustees Education Initiative; and faculty workload.
