An educational exhibition that presents the history of 9/11, its origins and its ongoing implications is on display at the University of Wyoming’s Coe Library.

“September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World,” a poster exhibition, is located on the main level of Coe Library across from the Coe Student Innovation Center. It will be on display through Friday, Dec. 17.

The exhibition was developed by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, the country’s principal institution concerned with exploring 9/11, documenting its impact and examining its continuing significance.

Told across 14 posters, the exhibition includes archival photographs and images of artifacts from the museum’s permanent collection. It explores the consequences of terrorism on individual lives and communities at the local, national and international levels, and encourages critical thinking about the legacies of 9/11.

“This 9/11 Memorial & Museum-curated exhibition reflects the core pillars of commemoration, education and inspiration as we prepare to observe the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks,” according to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s website.

“UW Libraries is honored to share this poster exhibition with the campus and Laramie community,” says Paula Martin, UW Libraries assistant dean of user services. “Sept. 11 is a solemn day in the memories of those who watched the events unfolding and who lost family and friends in the attacks. Many of our students were born and raised in a post-9/11 world, and this is an opportunity for our community to share memories and lessons with a new generation. It serves as a reminder to all of us about how our citizens came together to support each other and rebuild during one of our darkest times.”

All libraries and schools in the U.S. are eligible to download the poster exhibition for free. To register to download the posters, go to

The exhibition has been made possible, in part, by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy Demands Wisdom.
