UW Choral Ensembles to Present Songs of Love, Peace, Praise Nov. 13

The University of Wyoming Singing Statesmen, Bel Canto and the Happy Jacks choral ensembles will present “Music in the Air: Songs of Love, Peace and Praise” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

Tickets are $10 for the public; $7 for senior citizens; $6 for students not attending UW; and free to UW students with a “W” number. The concert, conducted by UW Associate Professor Holly Dalrymple, will feature Sara West and Andres Felipe Usuga on piano, and UW graduate assistant Camila Rabelo.

The Happy Jacks will perform “Ragtime Cowboy Joe”; “Embraceable You” by George Gershwin; “Seven Bridges Road” by Steve Young, featuring Marcis Bravo on bass, Zamboni Brown on banjo and Rudy Woodward on guitar; and “This Magic Moment” by Pomus and Shuman.

The UW Singing Statesmen will perform “Hosanna” by Reginal Wright; “In Meeting We Are Blessed” by Robertson, Gatsnahos and Donne, featuring Jascha Herdt on djembe; “Beati Mortui” by Felix Mendelssohn; “Alleluia” from “Uns ist ein Kind Geboren” by Johann Kuhnau; and “For My Brother” by Andrea Ramsey.

Bel Canto will perform “Song of Ruth” by David Childs; “Makedonska Humoreska” by Todor Skalovski; and “Truth” by Ramsey, featuring Herdt on djembe.

The concert closes with Bel Canto performing “Deep Peace” by Bill Douglas and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken?” featuring Bravo, Brown and Woodward on backup instruments.
