UWYO Roundup Updates, Adds Routes for Spring Semester

UWYO Roundup, the University of Wyoming’s transit system, is starting the new year with updates to the popular Express routes and the return of the Campus Commuter service beginning today (Monday).

What was formally known as South Express and Union Express will now go by Union Express. The Union Express route will continue to service the south and east park-and-ride lots, but now buses also will make stops at the Classroom Building and at the Anthropology and Science Initiative buildings along Bradley Street. Buses also will service the McWhinnie stop as well as the Arena-Auditorium and Animal Science stops.

“This Union Express will remain as efficient as before, but it will allow riders to more easily get across campus with these additional stops,” says Paul Kunkel, director of UW Transportation Services.

During the academic year, the Union Express operating hours will be from 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a shuttle stopping every 10 minutes.

For efficiency, the bus will only stop when a request has been made or a passenger is waiting to board. Riders on all buses will now be asked to request their stop by pulling the yellow cord in each bus 30 seconds before they would like to exit.

The Campus Commuter route will no longer service the east park-and-ride lot or the Classroom Building; however, passengers can easily transfer buses at the Wyoming Union to get to any other stop along the Union Express route, including the Classroom Building.

The stop known as 22nd and Arrowhead will be renamed Gateway East, and the Grand Avenue stop will now be called Residence Halls West.

The Campus Commuter route will operate from 6:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a shuttle stopping every 20 minutes. A timetable with all stops can be found at www.uwyo.edu/roundup.

UWYO Roundup’s on-demand services will continue to operate as they did in the fall. SafeRide will offer rides to anywhere in Laramie city limits Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. LaramieLink Dial-A-Ride can pick up and drop off riders at any established UW bus stop from 6:30 a.m.-10 p.m.  Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on weekends.

All riders are required to wear face masks while riding on any UW bus or van, in accordance with federal guidelines for public transportation.

To learn more about improved routes, track a bus, get important announcements or request a ride from an on-demand service, download the TransLoc app.
