UW Research and Economic Development to Host Broader Impacts Workshop, Fair Nov. 8

The University of Wyoming’s Office of Research and Economic Development is sponsoring a broader impacts workshop for researchers seeking federal funding.

The virtual “Broader Impacts 101” workshop -- presented by Advancing Research Impact in Society -- is Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and is free to the UW community. For more information, and to register, go here.

Researchers seeking funding from the National Science Foundation must demonstrate that, in addition to advancing discovery and innovation, their projects will have broader impacts: the potential to benefit society and contribute to the achievement of specific, desired societal outcomes.

The workshop will cover the history of the broader impacts criterion; provide strategies for conceptualizing, developing, implementing and evaluating broader impacts activities; and provide tips on leveraging existing resources and establishing partnerships to build a “broader impacts identity.”

In conjunction with the “Broader Impacts 101” workshop, UW’s Office of Research and Economic Development is sponsoring a Community Engagement, Broader Impacts and Outreach Fair from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in the Wyoming Union Family Room. The event is free and open to the UW community.
