UW Black Studies Center Student Research Conference Feb. 3

The University of Wyoming Black Studies Center (UWBSC) will host its fifth annual Student Research Conference Friday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m.

The conference theme embodies the goals and mission of the UWBSC, “Reframing the Traditional Master Narratives Through Evidence-Based Research.” The conference is virtual and free to all; it will be streamed on YouTube at @blackstudiescenter3603.

Jacquelyn Bridgeman, director of UW’s School of Culture, Gender and Social Justice, will offer opening remarks. Fredrick Douglass Dixon, director of the UWBSC, will present a tribute to the father of Black History Month, Carter G. Woodson. Richard Benson, from the University of Pittsburg, will give the keynote address.

UW’s Legal Aid Clinic will conclude the conference with a workshop presentation that centers on the historical and problematic issues of the all-white jury.
