UW and Wyoming SBDC Network to Host Google Maps Workshop in Powell April 26

Small-business owners can learn how to increase their companies’ visibility on Google Maps Wednesday, April 26.

Devan Costa-Cargill will lead the discussion during a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network in-person workshop titled “Get Found on Google Maps” from 5-6 p.m. at the Park County Library Powell Branch, located at 217 E. Third St. To register, go here. Registration is free.

The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Formerly known as Google My Business, a Google Maps profile can lead customers directly to businesses. An updated business profile can increase customer engagement and reduce frustration over outdated information.

During the workshop, small-business owners will learn how to update business information; use the offers, events and updates features to get their businesses noticed; discuss what customers want to see on businesses’ “About” pages; learn to link their websites and social media pages; and use Google reviews to learn and adapt to customer needs.

Costa-Cargill is the Wyoming SBDC Network regional director for Big Horn, Hot Springs, Park and Washakie counties. She launched her consulting career in the public school system, specifically in special education. For the past 10 years, Costa-Cargill has operated her own small business, providing consultation and enrichment to families and early educators. Her work with the Wyoming SBDC Network began in April 2021, advising small-business startups through the first important steps of their journey.
