Spring Issue of UWyo Magazine Helps Students Succeed in College

The spring issue of UWyo Magazine, the University of Wyoming’s flagship publication, aims to help current and incoming students make the most of college with advice from experts and upperclassmen.

“Moving from high school to college is a big transition in life and academics,” says Micaela Myers, UWyo Magazine managing editor. “Our aim is to provide all of the most important information to students in a fun and friendly way, straight from their peers and university leaders.”

Features include:

-- Advice for new students: Incoming freshmen and transfer students will learn how to prepare, what to bring and all about the Saddle Up college preparation program.

-- Everything academic: Read about how to choose a major, make the most of advising, use resources and more.

-- Experiential learning: From clubs to sports, undergraduate research to internships, experiential learning helps students find community and prepare for graduate school or the working world.

-- Career or graduate school?: Find tips for entering the working world or determining if graduate school is the right fit.

-- My biggest challenge: Current students share their biggest challenges and how UW resources helped them through.

-- Plus: UW Alumni Association profiles and news, donor spotlights, student-athlete stories and more.

“Growing up in Wyoming, it was destined that I become a Cowboy,” says sophomore Avery O’Brien, of Rock Springs, a finance major, with blockchain and real estate minors, who is one of the students featured in the issue. “UW offers a lot. With in-state tuition, there’s no way I could ever pass that up. I love the support and community that UW provides to all of its students. It’s hard to not feel at home here.”
