Jeff Baldock is an aquatic ecologist with interests in population and landscape ecology, ecohydrology, and conservation biology. He uses field studies, statistical models, and genetic tools to study the linkages between habitat, life history, and population dynamics of freshwater fishes. His aim is to conduct research that informs management strategies for species and landscapes of conservation concern. Jeff is currently an ORISE Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the U.S. Geological Survey, Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center. In this role, he studies how streamflow and temperature vary across space and time in headwater stream ecosystems, which comprise nearly 80% of global river length and play a disproportionate role in freshwater ecosystem function and water security. This work has broad implications for assessing the vulnerability of headwater ecosystems to drought and climate change.
