Makayla Kocher

During my Master’s program, I took an interdisciplinary approach to my research, exploring museum visitor experiences and how we can use a rhetorical perspective to focus our attention and gain agency in our experiences. This remains a passion of mine, but for now, I am shifting my focus to another passion—higher education and specifically teaching and learning. As of August 2025, I am working as an Educational Development Specialist (EDS) at Boise State University’s Center for Teaching and Learning. I will also serve as an Adjunct Faculty member in their Writing Studies Department. As an EDS, I will collaborate with faculty to create and implement programs that promote effective, evidence-based teaching, help define their goals for student learning, and support them in reaching those goals. This is a new journey, one I am eager to embark on. I am forever grateful for the UW community, experiences, and mentorship, as they have prepared me for this next step in my professional career.
