Your Winter Welcome Essentials
Winter Welcome kicks off January 15 (9 a.m. check-in) and gives new students a head start before spring classes begin January 20. Attend a full day of prep activities, settle into campus early, and start building your UW community from day one.

Winter Welcome isn’t required but it's highly encouraged for new students. If you plan to attend, registration is a must. It lets us prepare for your arrival and secure your early move-in spot on Jan. 14 if you’re living on campus. Students who plan to move in early need to complete the Winter Break 25-26 application through the Housing Portal and choose "Winter Welcome Early Arrival" while choosing your "Reason to Stay."

There’s no cost to attend Winter Welcome! In fact, students with spring housing contracts who participate in the full program are eligible for free early move-in—just be sure to register in advance. Students who plan to move in early need to complete the Winter Break 25-26 application through the Housing Portal and choose "Winter Welcome Early Arrival" while choosing your "Reason to Stay."
