Your Winter Welcome Essentials

Winter Welcome kicks off January 15 (9 a.m. check-in) and gives new students a head start before spring classes begin January 20. Attend a full day of prep activities, settle into campus early, and start building your UW community from day one.

Winter Welcome isn’t required but it's highly encouraged for new students. If you plan to attend, registration is a must. It lets us prepare for your arrival and secure your early move-in spot on Jan. 14 if you’re living on campus. Students who plan to move in early need to complete the Winter Break 25-26 application through the Housing Portal and choose "Winter Welcome Early Arrival" while choosing your "Reason to Stay."

What to Expect at Winter Welcome

We have designed Winter Welcome to be a comprehensive and exciting experience that helps prepare you for the adjustment to college coursework at UW. Students will be guided through a day-long experience with plenty of opportunities to connect with faculty, staff, and of course, the students who will be part of your college journey over the next several years. Get a glimpse of what college life is like, both in the classroom and outside of it!

Winter Welcome Back

Winter Welcome Back,  Jan. 20-23, is a program built to welcome all students (returning and new) to UW for the spring semsester! Experience a week of light programming during the first week of spring classes, with a great mix of fun, engaging campus experiences and events designed to introduce you to campus resources and spaces. Attend some or all of these events and have some fun as we celebrate the kickoff to another great semester!
